Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) and Côte-des-Neiges (CDN) were once considered their own separate towns till 1910 when both were annexed to the City of Montreal. In 2002, a reorganizational shift of the island combined these two areas into one large borough. The 2011 Census listed this section of Montreal as the most populous, with a count of 165,301.

CDN was first defined during the period of New France and was at the time the top vacation spot for many. The area would soon become home to its first inhabitants who worked within the Tanning Industry. NDG was farm land till 1908 when the street car started to bring inhabitants. Both CDN and NDG experienced accelerated growth in the 1930s thanks to the construction of institutional and health care structures. In 1966, the zone would be divided by the Decarie Expressway. Built for Expo 67, this transportation trench would displaced 285 families.

The following set, primarily from NDG with a splash of CDN, is but a small glimpse into Montreal's largest urban fabric.
